About my Village::
My village name is Semeng. It is situated on 27.44′N and 88.09′E. It has southeast faced. The elevation of the village approximately 1100m above sea level. During the monsoon, it has high rainfall than surrounding villages.
the major ethnicities of this village are Rai, Chhetri, Bishwakarma, Newar, Tamang and Darji. Their major income sources are agriculture & livestock. Now a days male people draining out to the Gulf country for earning. Only in a finger-count persons are literate in the village.
The major crops grown here are paddy, maize, millet and pulses. Orange is the most important fruit grown here as cash crop. This huge production of orange is supplied to the nearest market Dingla, Jhyaunpokhara, Tumlingtar and and Hile bazaar.
An adult male becomes a household head. A household head make a decision on the daily household activities i.e. growing crops, rearing livestock, income generating activities and so on.
Semeng has very scenic & panaromic place. It covers the ward number 7 and 8 of Tungechha Village Development Committee (VDC). It is about 15 KM away to the north from district head quarter. It is located near the famous religious place Dingla. Dingla is the main junction of three VDC called Tungechha, Mulpani and Keurenipani. It is like a small city for the remote area. Post office, Agriculture & commercial bank, Cooperative, Telecommunication office, Two secondary school, Agriculture sub-center and Shops are existing here.
Dingla is the place where the first time in Nepal public school was established during the Rana regime. That school is still known as “Shadananda Sanskrit Ma.Vi”. Statue of the “Abala Brahma Chari Bala Guru Shadananda” and temple of God Ram and Sita are the main attraction of Dingla bazzar.
Being a remote village there is not chance of road access neither of electricity. Only the 4 hrs of walking distance there is air service available. Tumlingtar airport connect to the Kathmandu and Biratnagar town city. The produced orange fruit is supplied to the outside market via aero plane.
Two primary school are established in the village but two high schools are away from village. Students walk everyday one and half hours to reach high school. It is look like better in the winter but very difficult in the summer season. Because, in the rainy season heavy rainfall made stream flooded and students are stops from crossing them.
Public communication office and some private communication centres are found only in Dingla bazaar not in Semeng village own. Post office which is the most popular messaging service is also located in Dingla.
